I’ve seen you say a pump is not necessary but I just wanted to confirm. I use an airstone while the lights are on and have air domes, I use a submersible pump to mix my Advanced nutrients PH perfect feed for a few hours when I first add it, but I notice some sediment on my air hose. should I be concerned? I really don’t want to buy a second pump for my second reservoir let alone paying to run them all the time, I’d appreciate any help. Thanks.

    Hi Paul,

You should never use an airstone in the reservoir as it will increase the pH of the water, only ever use a small water pump to move the water around, sediment is natural and come from the nutrients.

How will an airstone raise the pH of the water. I was under the impression that it would be a good thing, as you use them in fish tanks?
