    Hey Josh,

I’m giving smartpots a go and I’m trying to work things around my normal feeding routine as much as possible.

I’m interested in splitting up the feeding, so to speak, where only clean mineral fertilizer is going in the reservoir/feedlines and all supplementary additives are mixed directly in the autopot base. I know that you recommend keeping feeding simple with the autopots but I’m willing to do some trial and error to feed my plants what they’ve been responding to.

My question is about what can be wicked up from the base of the pot and what can’t, specifically supplements for supporting healthy micro-bacterial growth (molasses for late flowering when the plants stop feeding sugar to the microbes, kelp, etc). Would wicking saturate the medium enough to feed them effectively or would that require top feeding to drain? I haven’t turned the system on or used a wicking system before so I’m going off assumptions.

    Thanks for the help!

Hi There… pop over to the AutoPot Watering Systems FB page as there are lots of videos there also on the home page of the website is the brochure and potting up guides. Never pour additional feeds through the top always in the tray next to the AQUAvalve not on it….. but turn the system off 12 hours before fill trays …. leave for 30 mins and repeat. If you need to speak in more detail please feel free to call the office on the number on the website.
